5 Ways to be greener
Posted on by Brita-Water Admin
There are a lot of little things we can do in our home to play a small part in reducing landfill waste, helping the air, and preserving the natural landscape. By taking these small steps in your home you are setting a good example for your friends, family, and children.
Here are our 5 tips for going green at home:
1. Plant a tree
Trees as we know it can have the ability to remove carbon from the atmosphere. The use of trees is one of the many ways to reduce our environmental footprint. If you don’t have the space at home to plant a tree, there are many organisations online that you can contribute to such as savethekoala.com not only are you helping the animals but your helping future generations to come. That’s pretty cool right?
2. Turn off electronics when not in use
This is a big one, especially whilst many of us are at home, our consumption rate has increased significantly. Opening the curtains and letting natural light in and perhaps avoiding turning on the lights during the day when possible, as well as turning off your computer after using it will save energy. This not only helps the environment but also saves money on energy bills.
3. Hang clothes out to air dry
Being energy efficient simply means using less energy to perform the same task, that is eliminating energy waste. By hanging out your clothes to air dry you are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering costs on electricity bill. So, it is a win win situation and literally money saved that goes in your pocket!
4. Single use plastic
Here at BRITA we are passionate about reducing single use plastic. As the name suggest single use plastic are items which are used once and then thrown away. Whilst some single use plastic is recyclable there are some that still end up in our waterways, on the beach or in the ocean. This is something we at BRITA want to avoid. By using BRITA jugs, BRITA filter taps or BRITA bottles when away from the home we are eliminating single plastic use, we are keeping plastic out of the oceans and out of landfill. Now this may come off as being biased but I also think that water tastes so much better when it comes out of my BRITA jug, but that’s just me!
5. Recycle, recycle, recycle!
Recycle where you can. Did you know BRITA have a recycling program where you can send your MAXTRA+ filters? Our MAXTRA+ filters are 100% recyclable through Terracycle. We know we have a responsibility to reduce our negative impact on the environment which is why we have partnered with Terracycle to reduce waste.
