Introducing the new super boosted filter with advanced reduction of limescale build-up as well as effective reduction of Chlorine, heavy metals, Lead, Copper, and some sediments.
Australian household mains water is strictly controlled, however limescale buildup is a prevalent issue for those living in moderate to hard water areas. Hard water refers to water which contains a high mineral count and occurs when water passes through soft rocks like chalk or limestone and picking up the minerals from them. Whilst this isn't harmful to our health, hard water often results in the unpleasant smell, taste and mouthfeel when drinking.
In addition, as water makes its way from treatment plantations to your house, it can also pick up a number of chemicals from ageing pipes that can impact both the quality and taste of your drinking water - heavy metals such as Lead and Copper as well as sediments.
The MAXTRA+ Limescale Expert filter contains Micro-Carbon pearls that are specially designed to effectively absorb chlorine chemicals whilst Ion-Exchange Pearls protect against limescale build up as well as reducing heavy metals such as lead and copper.
For optimum results, we recommend replacing your MAXTRA+ filter every 150L or 4 weeks based on average household size drinking 8 glasses per day (click here for more details).

What are the benefits of BRITA filtered water?
BRITA is renowned for its expertise in the field of drinking water optimisation and filtration for over 50 years.
Australian household mains water is strictly controlled but it can contain chlorine, metals and carbonate hardness (limescale) which can impair taste, odour and appearance of water. A BRITA water filter provides an easy but highly effective way to provide you and your family with great tasting filtered water by:
• Reducing free and bound chlorine content (if present). .
• Reducing carbonate hardness (calcium and magnesium ions) in the mains water (if present). In other words, it acts as a “water softener” which is particularly important in parts of Australia where hard water is present.
• Reducing metals such as lead and copper in the mains water which can be increased by corresponding domestic installations
What is the best way to store BRITA filtered water?
You should ideally store your jug with BRITA filtered water in a cool place, e.g. in the fridge. You should also avoid direct sunlight and use the water within one to two days.
How often should I replace the MAXTRA+ Limescale filter cartridge?
For optimum results, replace your filter every 150L or 4 weeks based on average household size drinking 8 glasses per day. Click here for more details.
What are the benefits of MAXTRA+ Limescale filter?
The filter contains natural Micro Carbon pearls with millions of pores that work like a sponge, absorbing and locking away the substances that impair the taste of drinking water (such as chlorine and chlorine compounds), whilst the Ion-Exchange Pearls protect against limescale build up as well as reducing heavy metals such as lead and copper.
How do the filters and filter cartridges work?
The actual filtration works through the force of gravity: the water flows down through the cartridge containing a mixture of Ion Exchange Pearls and Micro Carbon Pearls. As soon as it comes into contact with the Ion Exchange Pearls in the cartridge, they bind and reduce the carbonate hardness of the water, as well as any metals such as lead and copper that may possibly be present in household pipes. Meanwhile, the Micro Carbon Pearls, made from the carbon in coconut shells, largely remove substances such as chlorine and chlorine compounds that impair the taste of drinking water.
What is the filter/cartridge made of and are the contents safe?
The filter material of the MAXTRA+ Limescale filter contains a mixture of ion exchange resins and activated micro carbon pearls that has been tested to food grade quality, and if accidentally consumed, will be harmless to health.
How do I prepare my BRITA water filter cartridge?
- Fill your jug or a bowl with water.
- Immerse your cartridge in the water and shake vigorously from side to side to circulate water within your cartridge and to remove all air bubbles for about 1 minute.
- Insert the cartridge firmly in your funnel.
- Filter and discard the first two litres of filtered water.
- Your filter is now ready to use.
Does MAXTRA+ Limescale filter fit into all existing BRITA products?
The new MAXTRA+ Limescale fits into all BRITA products except for the Classic range.
